Bicycle Helmets

Hopefully you'll never actually need your helmet, but in the event that you do, you'll be glad to have a good one on; and that's what we carry here at Intown Bicycles, good, safe, comfortable helmets. We have models for adults and children.

Today's Technology

Helmets today are better than ever. They're stronger, lighter weight, better ventilated and less expensive. With more sizes available and improved retention systems, they fit more precisely and more comfortably. Helmets have come a long way in the last few years.

Bells for Your Head

We stock Bell Helmets, the brand synonymous with bike helmets. They make a huge selection of helmets for all types of biking: for road, mountain, downhill, BMX and for just plain ole casual biking. We like Bell helmets because they are a good value and because they fit most people well. The colors are not bad either.

Giro Rode Helmet Blue Afterburner

Giro children's helmets come in styles that kid's love.

Giro ME2 Blue Aviator Helmet Giro Rodeo Helmet Pink Bunnies Giro ME2 Helmet Yellow Chics

Giro Kids Helmets

We also carry the Giro brand of helmets for kids. They're comfortable, easily adjusted for growing heads, and of course, cute.

So, What's the Difference?

The fit, fit system, and ventilation are what differentiate the various brands and price points of helmets. Better helmets fit more precisely, keep your head cooler.

The Fit

The fit is the most important criteria for selecting your helmet. Helmets are shaped a bit differently from brand to brand, so it's good to try on a few when you're shopping to see which ones fit the best. At the lower price points you'll find that helmets come in only one size, but they will have some sort of adjustable headband to fine tune the fit. At higher price points more sizes are offered for a more precise fit. Choose the helmet that is the most comfortable. It should fit snugly, but not uncomfortably so. In the unfortunate event that you do need your helmet, you want it to stay firmly in place.

The Ventilation

Ventilation is the next most important criteria for selecting a helmet. Of course, the more vents it has, the cooler it is, and the more it costs.

The Strength & Safety

As far as the strength and safety are concerned, all helmet are required to meet minimum safety standards. Bell and Giro test their helmets extensively, and continuously, to assure they are safe.

The helmets we cary range form $35 to $115.
