Box Bicycle for Shipping

Box Bicycle for Shipping

Materials Included

For $50 we provide all the materials, do the disassembly, and box your bike for shipping. We ask that you make the arrangements for shipping. (We have a UPS store within walking distance.)

Re-Assembly

We're happy for you to have a bike shipped to us for re-assembly too. Just be sure to give us the contact info for when it arrives. Assuming the bike needs no other adjustments, the re-assemble is $50. On the other hand, if your bike is about due for some service anyway, it's a good time to get a tune-up. That costs $75.

Shipping Costs

Shipping costs have gone up recently as fuel and transportation costs have risen. It can be very expensive to ship a bike now, depending on the size.

Bicycle boxes border the O/S 2 and O/S 3 size categories. That means that most bike boxes are just small enough to qualify for the O/S 2 shipping rate, but the larger ones fall into the O/S 3 category and cost more to ship. For example, a bike going to the west coast at the O/S 2 rate, would cost around $45 to ship. However, it would cost nearly twice that much to ship a larger bike falling into the O/S 3 category.

These days shippers have been more vigilent about letting marginally sized packages slip through at the lower rates. We've seen a lot of chargebacks for marginally sized bikes that went out at the lower rate, but arrived at their destination at the higher one. It can be very expensive to ship a bike.

Saving You Money

We'll always pack your bike in the smallest box we can in order to minimize the shipping costs for you.
